Business Support Simplification Programme (BSSP)

What is the Business Support Simplification Programme (BSSP)

In the 2006 Budget, the Government announced a Business Support Simplification Programme (BSSP) to streamline the system of around 3,000 business support schemes to 100 or less by 2010.  The result of this process will be a simplified, cost effective and better targeted portfolio of business support products that is better accessed and understood by business.

In simple terms, it sets out to make it easier for businesses and entrepreneurs to understand and access the support available.

The region has been moving towards ensuring a more effective delivery of business support over the last few years.  BSSP builds on the region’s progress on simplifying this support.

One North East has been commissioned by BERR to lead the implementation of business support simplification in the North East.  The agency is working with partners to develop a regional vision for business support to ensure the infrastructure meets the needs of local businesses.
