Sector Based Support
Certain sectors of industry need more specialist interventions. To boost the productivity and profitability of these firms we will continue to work with regional sector bodies and groups of companies in key sectors, supporting them with skills and product development, enhancing the supply chain and market penetration.
For example, the new Marine Design Centre will strive to help win international ship design contracts by pooling existing regional skills and expertise in this sector from a base in central Newcastle.
In the North East several areas have currently been identified as growth, or potential growth, areas. This status is being reviewed constantly for emerging sectors. The Agency will focus on a few key regional sectors to be more focused and aiming to provide a better return on investment.
