Guide to running an ERDF project
It is important that all recipients of ERDF fully understand the responsibilities associated with the acceptance of funding, the rigour against which they will be tested for evidence of compliance with EU regulations and the systems and processes they need to ensure the availability of evidence, at the right time, in support of ERDF funded activity.
The guide to running an ERDF project document seeks to provide ERDF recipients with clear information in respect of key ERDF requirements including:
- Eligibility
- Record keeping
- Inspection
It should not be used in isolation, nor should it be considered as a definitive guide to ERDF requirements. Readers should also refer to pages on this website for up-to-date information, case studies and advice, before contacting One NorthEast for advice should doubts persist.

Single Programme & European Funding Procurement Handbook
Funding recipients should be aware that a breach of procurement requirements is the most common reason for claw back of grant and the procedures must be carefully followed and monitored throughout the project to mitigate the risk of failing to procure correctly.
It is therefore important to ensure that the procurement rules as set out in the Funding Allocation Letter (FAL) are strictly adhered to during the delivery of the project for the acquisition of services, supplies and/or Works in the delivery of the project.
In response to One NorthEast taking over new responsibilities for the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Competitiveness Programme 2007-13 and Rural Development Programme for England on behalf of the region, the Agency has created this handbook. It is designed to provide all the guidance and templates required to facilitate your procurement activity and meet the obligations of the FAL.
