NEPA
The North East Productivity Alliance (NEPA) is a partnership between One NorthEast, other public agencies, industrialists and academic experts. Its aim is to improve the performance of the North East’s manufacturing industry, in particular by boosting the skills, productivity and competitiveness of companies.
One of the ways it helps companies is by placing world class engineers in businesses to provide expertise and guidance on improvement projects.
NEPA has developed the Accelerate North East Programme - a package of support measures currently valued at £13 million over three years. This comprises four inter-related projects:
- Engineering Fellows – involved in of research and development. This is funded by One NorthEast and project managed by Sunderland University’s Institute for Automotive & Manufacturing Advanced Practice (AMAP).
- Digital Factory – a technology transfer and skills development inititiative (funded and managed in a similar way to the Engineering Fellows project).
- Workforce Development - funded by the Learning and Skills Council and managed by Assa Training and Learning.
- Best Practice Dissemination Teams - focused on productivity and skills. Funded by One NorthEast and the European Social Fund, and managed by the Agency.
