Hugh Lang
Hugh studied at Glasgow University obtaining a BSc Hons in Geology (1978) and an MBA (1993).
During the first five years of Hugh’s working life he worked overseas (USA, Africa, Middle East) in the oil and gas industry. He returned to Scotland in 1983 and held positions of commercial development manager and sales director within the electronics industry.
In 1993 he made a move into the Aviation Industry, taking up the position of Managing Director for Glasgow Prestwick International Airport as part of a management buy-in team. After a period of rapid growth the Airport was sold to Stagecoach in 1998 at which time he was promoted to the position of Managing Director of Stagecoach Aviation.
In December 2000 Hugh accepted the position of Managing Director for Teesside International Airport, as it was known then. His main achievements during his time at the airport have been to stabilise the business, deliver the privatisation of the Airport with Peel Airports Ltd and launching the re-brand of the Airport in September 2004.
In 2008 Hugh became Group Airports Director of Peel Airports Group, with responsibility for the management and operation of Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport and Durham Tees Valley Airport.
