One North East Chairman Margaret Fay has paid tribute to the hard work and dedication of colleagues after being honoured with a CBE for her services to the regional development agency. 

“I have had the privilege and pleasure of working with the board and the team at One North East for the past six years and have been deeply impressed by the dedication of all of my colleagues,” she said. 

“I feel very proud to receive this honour which I regard as being on their behalf.” 

Alan Clarke, One North East Chief Executive, said: “This honour is thoroughly deserved in recognition of Margaret’s outstanding leadership of One North East and her leadership role in the region over the past six years. 

“Margaret is a great ambassador for the North East both within the region and in London - she has a wonderful ability to communicate in whatever environment she is in. 

“Personally, I am delighted she has been given this honour. In my role as chief executive she has given me her full support and I have seen her give similar support and encouragement to all staff at One North East to help them and the Agency achieve their goals.” 

Margaret was awarded an OBE for her services to broadcasting in June 2004.
